Meet our frenchies

A Frenchie Adventure with Ash and Amber

Hi there! Welcome to FarmHouse Frenchies! My name is Marcia Opp. My family and I love our Frenchies and are excited that more little Frenchies are in the works right now!! Ash and Amber are two year old sisters who entertain us all day long!

They (and we) live on a 400-acre dairy farm in southwestern Pennsylvania, where they love to run through the hayfields and visit the 150-cow herd on morning walks with their mom (me) in front of the cows’ freestall barn.

We actually refer to our Frenchie girls as our “piggies” because they remind us so much of the pigs our boys walked and showed when they were in 4-H.

The way the Frenchies do their Happy Talk (snorting all the time unless they are sleeping!), the way they wiggle their backsides when they walk, and how they sit their chunky bodies off to the side just like the 250 pound pigs did…they just remind us so much of miniature pigs!!

Embracing the Weird Dog Mom Life with Our Frenchies!

Before our “piggies” joined us, I could never understand how dogs could be such a big part of a family. But now I say that our Frenchies definitely turned me into a Weird Dog Mom. Yup, I do all the Weird Dog Mom stuff like letting Ash and Amber take naps with me, drape themselves all over me when I watch a movie, let them squeeze in between my husband and me on the couch, and I even talk about them like they’re my children! Yikes!

Our Frenchies have truly brought so much joy to our family! Not only are they adorable, but they have so much personality to boot.

We can’t wait for you to meet them when you come pick up your puppy. As soon as the pups are born, we will post pictures of them, so you can dream about which one is best suited for you and your family!!

About

Ash and Amber

Our babies joined the Opp family just one month after I (Marcia) declared, “That’s it! No more dogs!!” Then I met a four year old Frenchie in person named Zeus and fell in love. I couldn’t stop thinking about him…that and all the hilarious Frenchie videos on-line. And I was hooked.

A fellow-farmer friend of ours happened to have a few litters of Frenchies at that time, so I thought, “I’ll just go look and hold them and that’ll get them out of my system.” Therein lies the problem. “Just one look…that’s all it took!” I actually liked the adults even more than the babies (although in looking back through our pics, I remembered how adorable they were at that size!).

While I was at her farm, I took a slip on a patch of ice and twisted my body every which way. But the Frenchie mamas weren’t worried…they both curled up on top of me and whatever cozy spots my twisted body made! Such snugglers!

Funny Tales and Furry Adventures: Meet Ash and Amber, Our Dynamic Frenchies!

Our younger son named them Ash and Amber. The names represent their colors and they really do fit their personalities! Ash has lots of pep and loves to play and run and jump and enjoy life, whereas Amber likes a small amount of all those things, but prefers a good nap on top of me! Of course, Ash usually gets in on that napping on me action eventually too! And they are both always up for good snuggling and scratching-all over-any time!!

We said so many times as they were growing up, “Who needs Netflix when we have these two to watch?” Such funny antics! They are so tough; one will take a hold of sister’s jowl and then do an allegator roll, and neither utters a peep! Everyday, when they hear us getting out of our cars, Ash will jump on the arm of the couch and stand on two legs to see who’s coming up the yard! It honestly looks like a toddler at the window…a little disconcerting at first! My husband remarked one time that my dad, who wrestled at Penn State in the 60’s, would have been so proud of the piggies’ wrestling moves.
And those piggies love to go to the barn! They jump for joy at the door when I mention “barn”. Oh my, crazy girls! Amber and Ash love to taste the cows’ feed and lick the heifers’ noses if they can get close enough. One day when the cows were out to pasture, I was taking a walk with the piggies and they ducked under the fence to see the cows.

When Amber was coming back to me, she must’ve touched the electric fence because she came out and stopped stock still, looking up in the sky, behind her, at me, and then at the cow to see who “bit” her on the back. And with such audacity!

I hope you will be as excited to invite a Frenchie or two into your life! You will be blessed more than you can imagine!

New puppies are ready for their home!

Still little but never hurts to plan ahead for Valentine’s Day!
